Documentary poverty does not clearly give a medieval origin to this fine marble image, it measures eighty-five centimeters; and it is made, according to some, in alabaster and, according to others, in saccharide marble, very fine and transparent, marble of which there are no quarries on the island. Hollow in the back, perhaps due to the need to lighten it to make it easier to move, it is divided horizontally into two parts, at the foot of the Child.
